Harvey was born in Ridgeland, MS on April 17, 1915. He was a row crop farmer all his life. He loved everything about Ridgeland. When asked by anyone if he has ever thought about living anywhere besides Ridgeland, his lifelong home, his answer was the same “Shoot, this is the best place in the World.” In 2001 he was the recipient of the City of Ridgeland “City Maker Award” for years of dedication to building the City of Ridgeland and for making Ridgeland a premier community in Madison County. In 2012, on his 97th birthday Mayer Gene McGee presented him the Key to the City. Pawpaw loved the outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family.
Harvey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bessie Adcock Carr; parents , Lena Jane and John Price “Jack” Carr; daughter, Mary McCraw; siblings, William “Bill”, Myrtle, Rodger, Edward and Joe.
Survivors include son Harvey Price Carr Jr. and daughter Fran Lusk; grandchildren, Clearmon McCraw, Robby Carr, Chad Carr, Kyle Lusk and Sara Lusk; great grandchildren, Jack Carr, Elizabeth McCraw, Sam Carr, Will Carr, Mollie Carr and Kamdon Lusk.
The family would like to thank the staff of T&L Sitters, LLC, Stay Home Health and Ridgeland Family Medical for the care of our Pawpaw and compassion given to the family.
