Flolynn Stover

Flolynn Tate Stover was born December 2, 1930, in Llano, TX she passed away November 28, 2021 at St. Catherin’s Village in Madison. Services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Stover of Madison; her parents, Gertrude and Robert Tate of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Dr. Robert A. Tate of Austin, TX; and a sister in law, Doris Tate of Greenville, TX. She is survived by two daughters, Libby Phillips (John) of Tulsa, OK, and Barbara England (Bob) of Madison; five grandsons, Emile A. Meyer of Ardmore, OK, Preston Phillips of Jackson, Chris England of Saucier, Rob England of Hattiesburg, and Zach England of Madison; a brother, Dr. John T. Tate of Greenville, TX, and a sister in law, Phyllis Tate of Austin, TX. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Flo was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she served as a chalice bearer and had been active in many areas of her church life. She was a former active member of First Christian Church in Jackson.

She loved traveling the world with Howard and their close friends and could not wait to expose her grandsons to the places they enjoyed. Highlands, NC, remained one of her favorite places most of her adult life. They dearly loved their Lunch Bunch friends with whom they spent over 50 years of fellowship and fun.

Throughout the years, she was active in the International Ballet Competition, the Jackson Symphony Orchestra and served as wardrobe mistress for the Mississippi Opera. She was a member of the Rembrandt Society for the Mississippi Museum of Art. She served on the board of Harbor House Chemical Dependency Services and was instrumental in fundraising within that organization. She was a very talented interior designer and she owned and operated Studio One Interiors in Highland Village.

Our family would like to thank Debbie Royer for her decades of caregiving and loyalty to mom. We also would like to thank the staff of St. Catherine’s Village, especially Iesha Youngblood. We are also grateful to her caregivers, Mini Evans, Velma Nelson, Tracy Johnson, Inez Clarke, and Lucille Sutton.

In lieu of flowers, Mom has requested contributions be made in her memory to Harbor House, 5354 I-55 South Frontage Road East, Jackson, MS 39272.
