Elsie Walker Hemphill, age 88, passed away September 19, 2013 at Hospice Ministries. Services will be at 11 am Monday at Wright & Ferguson on Highland Colony Parkway in Madison. Visitation will be Sunday 4 pm to 6 pm and Mon 10 am prior to the service.
“Elsie Bell” loved life and all her wonderful friends. She never met a stranger. Elsie was born Aug. 29, 1926 in Jackson, MS. and lived her early years in Crystal Springs, MS.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Walter Grey Hemphill of Byram, and her parents Mr. & Mrs. Wiley Walker.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Windham and her son-in-law Kenneth, sisters Margaret Ainsworth, Billie Dixon, and Alice Smith, and her special niece Kristi Smith who stood by her in her final days. And the love of her life, her grandson Ryan Windham, his wife Stephanie, and her great gran-daughter Rainey Windham, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was so fortunate to meet and love her longtime companion Jim Keel. Her family will always love him and his family for their friendship and care of Elsie Bell.
Her family is also so great-full for her friends at The Waterford Retirement Home where Elsie lived for the last years of her life. Elsie Hemphill was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Byram in Byram, Ms. Thanks to Hospice Ministries for their loving care of Elsie and a special thanks to Ruby.
