Elizabeth (Beth) V. Humphreys, 85, of Madison, MS died at St. Dominic's Hospital on Sunday June 24, 2018. She was born on November 26, 1932 in rural Osyka, MS to Curtis & Hoyte (Dickey) Varnado. Beth graduated from Union Church and from Copiah-Lincoln College.
On December 21, 1952 Beth married John "Brown" Humphreys. In 2006 they celebrated their 54th anniversary. During the years, Brown was building bridges as a partner in Key Constructors while Beth was managing the multiple farm operations. After they both retired, Brown and Beth split their time between MS and Rapid City, SD to be near their son and grandchildren. Beth, Mark & family just recently moved back to MS. Beth was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in rural Fayette, MS and was the treasurer for many years. She loved gardening, music, art, reading and her crossword puzzles.
Beth is survived by her son J. Mark Humphreys and his wife Marsha and their children J. Andrew of Park City, UT, Leah of Olympia, WA and Brian of Madison, MS. Her sister Margaret Givens and her husband Jim and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband J. Brown Humphreys, her parents, and sister Lorraine Varnado.
Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. Services will be at 11:00 on Saturday, June 30, 2018 with visitation one hour prior at Bethesda Baptist Church in rural Fayette, MS. Interment will follow at Ephesus Cemetery in rural Lorman, MS.
