Dorothy Lee Henderson Ogg, 93, of Madison, MS, passed away on December 10, 2020. The youngest of three children, Dorothy was born March 30, 1927 in Little Rock, Ark., to Mr. and Mrs. Cooper G. Henderson. Dorothy was married to Joe William Ogg of Okalona, MS, on August 30, 1948. They were happily wedded for more than 57 years.
Dorothy grew up living in Greenwood, MS, Memphis, TN, and Baldwyn, MS. She attended and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, MS. She taught high school home economics for two years in Brooksville, MS.
Dorothy and Joe spent the majority of their marriage living in Jackson, MS, before moving to Madison prior to retirement. She loved her family dearly, was a wonderful homemaker, and always enjoyed cooking for her family, especially during the holidays. She, also, had a passion for growing flowers, and loved to read novels. Dorothy and her husband were active members of the Wahabi Shriners, and were members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister Miriam Permenter, and brother Barry Henderson.
She is survived by her children, Mary Lee Crews (Sidney Mac) of Columbus, GA, Joe Ogg (Gail) of Meridian, MS, and Susan Barlow (Roger) of Madison, MS. In addition, six grandchildren, Mac Crews, Ashley Crews Hines (Jason), Amanda Ogg Henry (Neil), Dr. Garrett Ogg (Cooper), Hunter Barlow (Liz), Molly Barlow Langdon (Michael); and eleven great grandchildren, Gage Dempsey, Emma Hines, Reese Crews, Anna Kate Henry, Parker Henry, Anne Allen Ogg, Miller Ogg, Miriam Ogg, Dorothy Kate Barlow, Ellis Barlow, and Lucy Langdon.
Due to COVID, a family graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS. Pallbearers include Mac Crews, Dr. Garrett Ogg, Hunter Barlow, Michael Langdon, Neil Henry, Parker Henry and Reese Crews. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Ogg’s great grandchildren.
