Dorothy Lee Crum was born July 12, 1926 in McComb, MS and passed away Sunday April 29, 2018 of natural causes at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. She was 91 years old. Dorothy Lee Crum lived in McComb, MS where her father was a pharmacist & owner of the Walley Crum Drugstore. In 1929 her father sold the store and moved to Jackson, MS to take a job with McKesson and Robbins Drug Company.
Dorothy Lee attended Davis Elementary School, Bailey Junior High School and Central High School in Jackson, MS. Dorothy Lee Crum & Leslie Lampton first met at Bailey Junior High around 1940 and started dating. Leslie went off to war and when Dorothy Lee graduated from high school she attended Mississippi State College for Women in Columbus, MS for a year and Millsaps College in Jackson for a year and then attended the University of Mississippi in Oxford. She graduated with a B.A degree in History in 1947.
Leslie Barton Lampton, married Dorothy Lee Crum May 8, 1948 at the Veterans Hospital Chapel in Jackson, MS. They settled in Jackson, MS where they raised their four sons. Dorothy Lee was very active in numerous clubs and organizations as well as Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy Lee is predeceased by her parents, William Walter Crum and Mildred Willene Weathersby Crum, her husband of almost 70 years Leslie Barton Lampton, her sister Barbara Crum Spell, and nephew Robert Spell.
Dorothy Lee Lampton is survived by her four sons, Leslie B. Lampton, III, Lee Crum Lampton, William W. Lampton (Bill), Robert H. Lampton, their spouses, ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.

Lee Crum Lampton & spouse Maggi – Children Amy Lampton Walker (DeFord) their children Mari Lampton, Ann Elise and Hank and Lee Crum Lampton, Jr. (Cameron) & their child Tre.
William W. Lampton (Bill) & spouse Debby – Children Will Lampton (Janna) their children Leighton and Ellie; Walt Lampton (Pfeifer) their child Marley and Katie Lampton Brown (Walker)
Robert H. Lampton & spouse Pryor – Children Ana Lampton Triplett ( Taylor); Patrick Lampton ( Sophie) ; Louis Lampton (Neilley) Dorothy Lee is also survived by a niece Laurie Spell Browning (Bill), their son Flemming. Donna Spell (widow of Robert Spell) their children Lillian and Porter.
The Lampton family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the caregivers who have been a part of Mrs. Lampton’s life recently: Jackie, Jean, Rynell, Elenore, Gladys, and Renee. A special thanks goes to Kathy Stone and Annie Ruth Herron who have been an integral part of the Lampton family for over 50 years.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on the back patio of Covenant Presbyterian Church 1:30 till 3:30. Following the service a private family burial will be conducted at Parkway cemetery in Ridgeland.
