Bonnie Fitzgerald was born on October 1, 1920 in Pensacola, Florida. She received her undergraduate degree from the former Ursuline College in New Orleans, and her M.A. from the University of Idaho. As the child of a Navy family, she spent part of her childhood in Peru and Panama, and returned to Pensacola, her family’s home, in her teens. As a married adult, she lived in Virginia, Mississippi, Idaho, and Louisiana, retiring to Waveland, MS. Bonnie had a deep, lifelong faith and attended St. Richard Catholic Church in Jackson. She was a patient and devoted wife, a concerned and supportive mother and dear friend to many. She loved travel, good food, good times and the many large family gatherings she frequently hosted at her home in Waveland. She lost that home and all her possessions to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and moved to Ridgeland, MS, near her oldest daughter, to live out her days.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to St. Richard Catholic Church, 1242 Lynwood Dr., Jackson, MS 39206 or the charity of your choice.
