Sue Gray peacefully passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019, in Ridgeland, Mississippi at the age of 92, and with her passing, fulfilled her longing to reunite in heaven with her late husband Truett. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and a caring NeNaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sue was born in Emory, Texas on October 15, 1926. She met and married her beloved spouse Truett Gray in Dallas, Texas. The couple relocated to Jackson, Mississippi in 1953 and would spend fifty-one years of marriage together. They attended church at Calvary Baptist and later at First Baptist Church Jackson.
As the consummate homemaker, Sue took pride in making sure every detail of home life was planned and managed. Her cooking skills were legendary and Sunday family lunches often turned into all-day affairs with opportunities for multiple trips to the kitchen table. She was an avid reader and enjoyed following Duke basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. Her most cherished times were those spent with her family.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Truett Gray, both parents, two sisters, three brothers and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Gray. Survivors include her children, Suzy Hubbard, Jimmy Gray, Cindy (Ron) Emery, and Lisa (Dewayne) Cupples; her grandchildren, Neilson Hubbard, Aubrey Farmer, Jason Gray, Justin Gray, Renee’ Davidson, Jackye Barbour, Gray Emery, Alex Branch, Kyle Cupples, and Sam Cupples; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
The family expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of The Rose Garden at The Orchard in Ridgeland, Mississippi for their excellent care and attention.
A celebration of life service will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Friday, July 19, 2019. Visitation begins at 10:00am with the service following at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
