She is survived by her husband, Howard; son, Chris (Beth); daughter, Beth Brown (Steve), all of Madison; grandchildren Carley Boone Corbin (Seth) of Birmingham, Bailey Boone, and Ian Brown of Madison, and Ben Brown of Colorado Springs; brothers Richard Stockett, Jr (Carol) and Marvin Stockett (Pat), and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The daughter of Richard C. Stockett, Sr. and Beth Enochs Stockett, Bethany grew up in the Belhaven area of Jackson. She attended the Jackson Public Schools and was a member of the first graduating class of Murrah High School in 1958. She attended Millsaps College and later transferred to be with the love of her life, Howard, graduating from the University of MS in 1962. She was a Chi Omega and was named the Dream Girl of Pi Kappa Alpha. She and Howard were married soon after graduation and they would’ve soon celebrated their 55th anniversary.
Bethany’s priorities in life were her God, her family, and her friends. She was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years, serving in countless roles. She was active in MS Methodist Cursillo. She was a wonderful servant of her heavenly Father, and in her quiet reserved manner she touched more lives than she’ll ever know.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her most cherished memories were of family gatherings – birthday celebrations and holiday meals, weekends spent at the cabin in Crystal Springs, Memorial Day trips to the beach, and weekly Sunday afternoon visits at home. She and Howard shared a love for one another that made these times a joy for all in attendance. And her love for the four-legged members of the family was a source of happiness for all, as well. Bethany never met a dog she couldn’t love.
She was blessed with a host of wonderful friends who enhanced her entire life. In recent years she was blessed by the luncheons shared regularly with her high school girlfriends and the ladies of her neighborhood, Geneva Gardens.
