Visitation will be at Broadmoor Baptist Church chapel on Sunday, August 17 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. as well as Monday, August 18 from 10 A.M. – 10: 45 A.M. Services will be Monday, August 18 at 11 A.M. at Broadmoor Baptist Church sanctuary in Madison, followed by burial at Wright & Ferguson Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland.
Mr. Morgan was born on August 14, 1935 in Canton, MS and lived in Jackson for many years prior to becoming a resident of Madison in 2000. He was a 1958 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in management. Mr. Morgan was employed by the Mississippi Department of Transportation for 40 years prior to his retirement. During that time, he was appointed as chairman of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Administrative Sub-committee on Personnel and Human Resources. He also served as a committee chairman for Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO).
Mr. Morgan served in the Mississippi National Guard for eight years. He was a member of the Jackson Touchdown Club for 30 years, in which he served as the organization’s treasurer for 25 years. For more than 51 years, he was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and served on various church committees, including organizing the church’s annual men’s golf retreat for more than 25 years and most recently served as the president of the church’s senior group known as the “Joy Group.” He was also a member of the Mississippi State University Alumni Association. Mr. Morgan was an avid golfer and member of Live Oaks Golf Club and a former member of Colonial Country Club.
He was active in the community and most recently a volunteer at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson. Mr. Morgan also coached several years for Jackson’s minor league and little league baseball programs.
Survivors include: wife of 52 years, Nancy B. Morgan, and sons Ben M. Morgan, Jr. (Vicki) of Plano, Texas, and Mark S. Morgan (Shannon) of Germantown, Tennessee, and three grandchildren, Kate Morgan and Peyton Morgan of Plano, Texas, and Zachary Morgan of Germantown, Tennessee.
