Barbara Thomson “Kieta” Westbrook, 91, of Madison, MS, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021 at St. Katherine’s Village in Madison, MS. She was born on July 18, 1930 in Anderson, South Carolina. She moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she fell in love with and married William Verdo “Bill” Westbrook, Jr. They were happily married for 58 years until his death in 2008.
Keita and Bill were active members of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson where they both taught Sunday school for many years. She joyfully served in the PROS (Presbyterian Retirement Organization) for over 30 years. She was a Life Member of the Junior League of Jackson and a member of the One O’Clock Luncheon Club and LeFleur Garden Club. She and Bill shared many hobbies together including gardening, cooking, tennis, boating, and traveling around the world. She is survived by her three children: William Verdo “Chip” Westbrook, III (Patty) of Gulfport, MS, Mark Thomas Westbrook of Jackson, MS, and Holley Westbrook Lacey (Peeler) of Laurel, MS. Grandchildren: Grayson Lacey (Jenny) of Laurel, MS, Lauren Butts (Casey) of Laurel, MS, and Thomas Westbrook of Jackson, MS. Great-grandchildren: Case and Brooks Butts, and Will Lacey of Laurel, MS.
The family would also like to express their deep gratitude and sincere appreciation to Dr. George Patton and Dr. Leslie Haines, Dr. Geri Ann Houston and Hospice Ministries, Southern Home Care Sitters, her nurses, nurses’ aides, doctors and the administrative staff of the Hughes Center and St. Catherines Village for their loving support and incredible care. Each one of you were wonderful and took excellent loving care of our Mother. We appreciate everything you did and can never thank you enough. May God bless you always.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 PM on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Parkway Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 in the chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. The family requests and memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Jackson or The Alzheimer’s Association.
