He is survived by his "Dream Girl" of 51 years, his sweet Sue, his devoted daughter (he proclaimed the best gift Sue ever gave him), Leslie Hardesty, the best son-in-law, Nick, his loving son (and second gift), Phillip, and his two adored grandchildren, Libbie and Henry Hardesty; as well as extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, William C. Wood Sr. and Anne Burt Wood.
He loved being with his beautiful family above anything else, had a great sense of humor, a heart of gold and was the best husband, father and grandaddy. He also loved helping others. Dr. Wood enjoyed telling everyone to "Keep Smiling", practicing dentistry, his comedic routine and many car talks with his patients for 48 years. He was able to travel extensively with Sue prior to his retirement, enjoying Italy the most, which brought him and his family much joy. In retirement, he enjoyed going to the River with his family, and golfing at Hermitage Country Club, and even celebrated a hole-in-one on #7 Sabot.
Please keep Bill and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
A celebration of life for Dr. Wood will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229, with remarks from family at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Goochland County Volunteer Fire-Rescue Association, PO Box 247, Goochland, VA 23063. They gave it their all to help him and for that his family is eternally grateful.
