SMITH, William T., 87, passed away November 23, 2015. He was born September 8, 1928 in Buckingham, Va. William was the son of the late Thomas Shelton and Rosa Merkel Smith. He was preceded in death by his wives, Kathleen Gurganus Smith and Margaret Rogers Smith (both of Virginia); three sisters, Daisy S. Scruggs, Sallie S. Jones and Virginia S. Agee (all of Virginia); a brother, Thomas Smith (of Virginia); and a son-in-law, Phillip Thompson (of Rocky Mount, N.C.). He is survived by a brother, Robert Smith (of Virginia); a daughter, Virginia "Jenny" Thompson (of Rocky Mount, N.C.); three grandsons, Barry (Stephanie) Thompson, Larry (Delphine) Thompson and Brian (Kay) Thompson (all of Rocky Mount, N.C.); six great-grandchildren, Jeremy (Crystal), Stephen, Ryan, Lindsey, Daniel and Jack Thompson (all of Rocky Mount, N.C.). William retired from FFV Bakery after 40-plus years of service. A graveside service will be held at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238, on December 4, 2015, at 2:30 p.m
