Timothy Bruce Heilman, of Richmond, Virginia, dearly loved son, brother and father, passed away on February 16, 2023, following a recent illness. Tim was born on April 12, 1958, in Nashville, Tennessee, as the sixth child and only son of E. Bruce and Betty Heilman. He is survived by his sisters, Bobbie Murphy, Nancy Cale, Terry Sylvester, and Sandy Kuehl, as well as his former wife, Karen McGill, and his two children, Corey Heilman and Patrick Heilman.
Tim was a graduate of the University of Richmond as well as a walk on kicker for the football team there. He remained an avid fan of all UR sports until his death. Tim was a gifted musician from an early age, despite being limited to one hand. He performed with his sisters, and won many talent contests. He was happiest when strumming a guitar and singing the many songs he wrote and recorded.
Tim’s professional career included positions in banking and finance as well as roles in Advancement at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, St. Paul’s College in Virginia, and Director of Development at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
Tim is remembered by his friends for his big heart and the generosity of his time, talent and treasures. His strong faith was evident in the many lives he touched.
During his childhood, Tim moved multiple times with his family, as his father pursued an academic career, living in Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. He adapted easily to wherever he went and to whomever he was with.
The family will have a private service and Tim will be inurned at the University of Richmond Columbarium, next to his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E. Bruce and Betty Heilman scholarship at the University of Richmond, or to the Heilman Welcome Center at Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, KY.
