Sherry Hammer Doody went to be with our Lord on December 4, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Daniel Joseph Doody; three children, Casey, Caleb and Emma; father, John Ralph Hammer; sister, Carol Swecker; brother in law, Jesse Swecker, and their children, Benjamin and Caitlin of Maidens, Virginia. She is also survived by her brothers in law, Mike Doody of St. Johns, Michigan, Pat Doody of Laingsburg, Michigan, Dennis Doody of Laingsburg, Michigan, John Doody of Lansing, Michigan; and sister in law, Margery Wirth of Westphalia, Michigan; cousins, Angela Crigler of Monterey, Virginia, Pam Hoffman of Staunton, Virginia, Jay Miller Gutshall of Richmond, Virginia, and Karla Obaugh of McDowell, Virginia; and many other relatives. Sherry was a wonderful wife, sister, mother and friend. Many people loved her dearly. She was an incredibly generous person and devoted 23 years of her life to nursing in the Neuroscience ICU at VCU Medical Center. Sherry will never forgotten.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richmond, VA. The family will receive friends again 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Obaugh Funeral Home, McDowell, VA. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Monterey Cemetery.
