Sherman Johnson, affectionately known as “Bobo,” was born to Floyd and Alice Johnson, on November 11, 1965, in Waverly, VA. He moved to Richmond, VA as a young child with his family and attended Richmond Public Schools.
He accepted Christ in his life and was baptized, February 11, 1996, he became a member of Dill Avenue Church of Christ, now Sandy Lane. He began working for the University of Richmond, in 1988, and was a dedicated worker for over 33 years. During his 33 years at the University of Richmond, he served as a team leader and received the Business Affairs Award for his outstanding service. He retired from his role as team leader in custodial services in October 2021.
Sherman was loved by everyone he met. He was funny and loved having a good time. Sherman gave everyone a nickname, you were called bobo, light duty, bozo, or clown. He was always happy to host his family and friends, you were welcome to stay if you liked, and he would sneak upstairs to bed, while everyone would be asking “where is Sherman.” His family was his pride and joy, and he always wanted them around.
Sherman was always the guy you could depend on when you needed help, whether it was with moving, cutting grass, or just giving you a ride. There are so many things we can say about Bobo, but how can we sum up his life in just a few words? Sherman was a yes man. He said yes to his family, yes to hard work and yes to love. Bobo words cannot express how greatly you will be missed.
Sherman departed this life on June 27th, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Johnson, his mother Alice Johnson, and his sister Elaine Crawford.
