Obituary of Seth Halen Hentman
Born March 31, 1996, Seth was cherished and adored by his family. He was gifted both physically and intellectually, rollerblading and riding a bicycle as a toddler, mastering video games and using the computer long before he ever entered Kindergarten. He was a natural athlete, playing little league baseball and football, and wrestling from a young child through high school. He was enrolled in the gifted and talented program in school and was selected for the Minds in Motion dance troupe through the Richmond Ballet, where he danced in an off-Broadway studio in New York City. Seth was an avid music lover and would travel anywhere for a concert, easily identifying the ‘up and coming’ artists long before the rest of the world ever noticed. He also followed underground artists and appreciated their eclectic styles. He was an adventurer, never afraid to pack all he thought he needed in a bag and head to his next destination on a whim. Born in Fairfax, VA, Seth moved to Richmond as a small child and spent a short time in Charlottesville before returning to Richmond. As an adult, he made his home in Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; and most recently in Portland, OR. He traveled across the country on the Empire Builder train, finding his spot atop the viewing car and sending gorgeous pictures of the scenery along the way. All who knew him would likely say he was one of the funniest people they knew, he had a unique view of the world that when shared often expanded your own world view. Seth was a fierce protector of his family and those he loved, and never hesitated to tell you how much you meant to him in the most heartfelt way. After many years in recovery, he succumbed to an accidental overdose on December 3, 2023. He is survived by his mother Mary Janie Korb (Steve), father Jerry Hentman (Amy), grandfather Andy Hentman (Mary), sister Shannon Hughes (Marcus), brother Shane Clark, step-brothers Joey Doherty, Richard Makela and Greg Korb, step-sisters Erin Doherty and Amanda Korb, uncle Mika Hentman, nieces Raelyn and Addalyn Montgomery and special friend Alexis Jaffe. The family will receive friends at Woody Funeral Home-Parham, 1771 N Parham Rd. Richmond, VA 23229 on Sunday Dec 10th from 3-6 PM and services will be held Monday Dec 11th at 2 PM in the mausoleum Westhampton Memorial Park 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond, VA 23238. To honor Seth’s carefree spirit, we ask that everyone wear their favorite hoodie.
