HRUBIK, Sarah Illich, born January 19, 1931, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Absent from the body, present with her Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milan and Julia Illich of Royal Oak Township, Michigan and her husband of 12 years Dr. William Feldman, father of their children; six sisters, Pauline Banyai, Helen Wallo, Mildred Igic, Marie Tomek, Ruth Johnson and Judy Douglas. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph Hrubik; her children, Denise Reynolds (Douglas) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Valerie Lewis (Jim) of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Laura Harwood (Jon) of Windsor, Calif. and by her step-children, Lois Banyai (Bruce) of Christiansburg, Va., Jeffrey Hrubik (Becky) of Brazil, and Shirley Jones (Robert) of Ashland, Va. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings, Daisy Bachik and Paul Illich of Michigan and Milan Illich of Chicago. Sarah was a native of Michigan, and earned her B.S. from Wayne State University and her M.S. from University of Akron. She taught school in Michigan, Connecticut, and Henrico County, and retired as a financial planner. Sarah enjoyed an active membership at Immanuel Baptist Church singing in the choir, organizing activities for the Evergreen senior group and generously supporting hospitality. The family expresses sincere thanks and appreciation to the Bon Secours Hospice staff for their wonderful compassionate care and support. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6pm Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Her funeral service will be held 11am Monday, May 22, 2017 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 3601 Monument Ave. Burial to follow at 3pm at Washington Memorial Park.
