Rosemary S. Armstrong, 84, of Sandston passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on May 29, 2014. She was reunited with her loving husband of 60 years, Elwood Armstrong. She is survived by her son, Elwood Armstrong, Jr. and wife, Becky; daughters, Janice Peters, Christy Wood, Susan Ilch and husband, Gary, and Laurie Armstrong; grandchildren, Hillary Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, Tyler Wood, Michael Wood, Marisa Wood, Nicholas Ilch, Jessica Ilch, Heather Kerns and husband, Jay, Sara Farmer, and Matthew Armstrong; four great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn Seward and wife, Jennie; sisters, Thelma Clark and Bonnie Cedolia. Rosemary was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Melford Seward formerly of High Point, N.C. She was the oldest of their six children, and proud to grow up on a dairy farm. Rosemary came to Richmond to attend Richmond Polytechnic Institute, and during that time she met her soulmate, Elwood. Rosemary loved nature, especially birds, cows, her flowers and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed reading, writing, music, traveling and collecting recipes. She had such passion for life but her greatest joy and mission in life was her family. Her smile would light up any room and she will be dearly missed. A private celebration of Elwood and Rosemary’s lives will be held by their family. The family would like to thank Dr. Shuja Khan and the many special caregivers from Medi Home Health and Hospice for all their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Susan A. Ilch Medical Account, Wells Fargo Bank, 11290 Nuckols Road, Glen Allen, VA 23059. Arrangements under the direction of Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, Richmond, VA.
