Rose Marcella Kugler Bender

BENDER, Rose Marcella Kugler, 92, of Lakewood Manor in Henrico, Va., formerly a resident of Duncannon, Pa., passed away on March 27, 2016. Born on May 3, 1923 to the late John and Blanche Kugler, she was the loving wife of the late Thomas D. Bender for over 62 years. Also predeceasing her were three brothers, William, Charles and Edwin Kugler; and three sisters, Mary Potts, Sara Grubb Reinhart and Dorothy Riegelmeier. She is survived by her daughter, Ronda Lee Bender Roane Tignor (Forrest) of Manakin, Va.; granddaughter, Misha R. Marvel (Jacob) of Malta, N.Y.; grandson, T. Nathan-Roane (Suzi) of Berlin, Germany; two great-granddaughters, Charis and Rebekah Marvel; a great-grandson, T. Ocean Roane; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Duncannon High School, Class of 1941, and attended Susquehanna University. Rose put others ahead of herself and was always a Christian example to everyone. An active participant in various activities at Asbury Methodist Church in Duncannon, Pa., she taught a youth Sunday school class for years and was a driving force in promoting the purchase of a new pipe organ. Much later in life, she was a charter member of New Community Baptist Church in Henrico, Va. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 10, 2016, at New Community's Sunday worship service, 2828 Emerywood Pkwy., Henrico, Va. 23294. Graveside services will be conducted at Union Cemetery, Duncannon, Pa., on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Memorial Fund of New Community Baptist Church, P.O.
