SPENCER, Robert Mitchell Sr., 90, of Richmond, retired field auditor for the IRS, went to be with the Lord December 19, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Watson Spencer; daughter, Carolyn S. Fowler and her husband, Greg, of Greensboro, N.C.; son, Robert M. "Bobby" Spencer Jr. and his wife, Chau-Rong Battillo, of Richmond; three sisters, Billie Couch, Peggy Draper and Irene Herndon; four grandchildren, Tommy and Jenny Fowler, Alethea and Kira Spencer; also one great-grandchild, Lacey Fowler.
Mr. Spencer was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Europe. He was past master and member of Joppa Lodge #40 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, ACCA Temple Shrine and the Legion of Honor. He was an active member at Trinity United Methodist Church. After serving in WWII he graduated from George Washington University. His joys were music, travel and cooking.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd.
