We are saddened by the loss of our brother. We had fantastic times together in Savannah. Bubba even joined us in our home on some weekends. All of us troops always went out to eat together after work. We all were family. We enjoyed many years together. We miss all the troops that came down to Savannah Georgia. Chief Morton, I salute you.

I'm saddened by the news of Bubba's passing, and will miss him.  I had the honor of serving with Chief Morton for almost nine years in the Virginia Air Guard, and really enjoyed working with him.  He was dedicated, faithful, dependable...he kept the aircraft arresting barriers up and running so well, among many other duties.  To his surviving family and friends, please accept my heartfelt condolences and sympathy.  I will look forward to seeing him again in the Grand Reunion.  

Spent 22 1/2 yrs with him in the Va Air Guard . They retired him the same time they retired me. We traveled a lot and Robert was always an important member of our team. He was always there to help in any way he could. Everybody always thought highly of him. I enjoyed working with him and learning from him over the years. The virus is really messing a lot of things up for everyone wanting to visit . I am my mothers caregiver after she had a stroke last year, she is 84 with health issues. RIP my friend Robert. Not sure if I will be able to attend though. 

Met Robert many years ago while we were both in the AF Air National
Guard.  We enjoyed doing guard duty together and thought as him as
a special friend and a great mechanical minded person like myself .  I did
 invite him to Poplar Springs and he said he would come one day soon..
He did and became a committed member of our church family. He will be
remembered by all who attended as a pleasant and delightful person.
We both retired from the Air Guard and continued our relationship and I will remember him as a person who truly loved his country and a brother in Christ.

Robert and my Mother, Barbara Gunderson Harvey, were close for many years after Liz passed. Robert and I shared many happy times together during 2005-2018. Robert started declining and needed more help than I could give in 2019-2021. I want his family to know that Robert was special to me and my Mom's family as he became family to us. At one time, Robert said I was like a daughter to him. He is with his savior now. Very sorry for your loss as he was special to many here on earth.... He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ferrell Morton; father, Robert Ray Morton; mother, Thelma Hair Wilholt Morton; and sisters, Linda Gay Morton Huneycutt and Shirley O’Neil Morton Morris.
He is survived by his sister, Peggy Joyce Morton Smith; nieces, Mitzi Lynn Morris and Laurie Ann Morris; nephews, Christopher Gerald Huneycutt and Phillip Scott Smith; four great-nephews and one great niece.
