GRAY, Robert Gordon, died peacefully in his sleep on October 5, 2017. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and faithful friend. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Gray Sr. He is survived by his mother, Dianne W. Gray; brother, George W. Gray Jr. (Mary); sister, Cynthia G. Ellis (Brian); nephews, George Gray III (Katie), Matthew Gray (Lea); and their son, John Gray (fiancée, Allie Bryan), Gordon Gray and Thomas Ellis; and niece, Kaici E. Keithly (Chris).
Bob graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond, Va. and attended Louisburg College in North Carolina. After living in Baltimore, Md. and Williamsburg, Va., he recently moved back to Richmond. Bob's great joy in life was helping people and discussing politics.
As a young man, he was a member of the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad and volunteered countless hours as a squad member. His hope of becoming an EMT was cut short due to a severe accident. The family would like the McShine Foundation and its friends to know that he gained great satisfaction and inner strength helping those in need at the foundation, and we thank them for providing that opportunity.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017, at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to McShin Foundation, mcshin.org. Online condolences may be sent to woodyfuneralhome.com.
