Rick and I were friends at VCU and probably hadn't seen each other since graduation.  But I was thrilled to find him on Facebook and enjoyed keeping up with him on there.  Looking through all of the family pictures posted on here, it is clear to see that Rick was a family man first and foremost.  Even in college days, when many of us were trying our wings and leaving the nest behind, Rick was devoted to his parents, brother and sister and spoke of them often.  You can just tell  from the photos that his family brought him so much joy.  What wonderful memories he must have left behind for those who loved him.  He was always a stand up, gentlemanly person in college and a ton of fun too.  I am so very sorry for those he has left behind.  I can only imagine how large the void is and how deep the sorrow flows.  Prayers for his family, his co workers and friends.  Heaven gained an angel, but the world is just a little darker now.  

I haven’t seen Ricky since high school but remember him as a very nice guy and liked by all. He surely will be missed by many and I’m so sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace, comfort and strength for all at this difficult time and going forward, amen.

   I was shocked/saddened to hear of your passing. You were always one of the few to take the time to help me out when I needed it. Thank you for your advice and friendship over the past 12 years, and seeing something so many years ago in a rookie to trust me to have your back. As all of us, I have many great stories of you and our times together at Henrico. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this time. Rest easy brother, we have the watch from here.

To the Slough family,
I am one of many attorneys who regularly interacted with Rick at the courthouse. He was always smiling, ready to crack a joke or tell a story. He was courteous to all he dealt with, whether a judge or a defendant.  While I didn’t know him outside of the courthouse context, it was obvious that he was solidly a “good guy” with a heart for people. His presence will truly be missed.  Many of us (myself included) will be out of town for his remembrances but please know that you all are in our hearts and minds. May you all be comforted by a peace that surpasses all understanding.

     You was one of the greatest people I met when I started at Henrico. You were always smiling laughing while we was at work. You will always be remembered as a kind, loving and funny man. You always had everyone's regardless of the situation. thank you for helping me when I was a rookie and showing me the ropes at Jail West and Jail East.Your passing lays on my heart so heavy. It doesn't feel like I lost a co worker but a part of my family. God Bless you and your family brother. We have the watch from here. God Speed.
