Born in London, England in 1924, Dick immigrated with his parents to the U.S. through Ellis Island and grew up in the Meadowbrook and Cary St Rd areas of Richmond. After consulting with Mays Engineering, Dick enjoyed retirement; spending time with family; playing golf; gardening; volunteering in various Director roles for the 82nd Airborne Division Assoc/VA State Chapter; a member of the S.O.K.I. Boy Scout Club, ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) and Manchester Masonic Lodge #14; as well as supporting his wife’s volunteer work and being her full time caregiver for the last 5 years.
Dick lived the airborne creed by not quarreling or bragging about his deeds, being fiercely loyal, holding sacred trust, courteous to all, neatness of dress, and a man of character who never met a stranger.
