Rachel Shepherd

SHEPHERD, Rachel Ferrell Lewis, passed away on October 3, 2012. She was predeceased by her parents, Lillian Trim Ferrell and Samuel Eugene Ferrell of Jackson, Miss. She was also predeceased by her husbands, Henry Ezelle Lewis Jr. who died in 1989 and Ray R. Shepherd Jr. who died in 2011. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Lewis Swenson and Annette Lewis Capocelli; and son-in-law, Dino Capocelli; four grandchildren, Heather Annette Swenson, Holly Margaret Swenson, Dominic Lewis Capocelli and Vanessa Marie Capocelli, all of Richmond; her brother and his wife, Samuel Eugene Ferrell Jr. and Patsy; a niece, and nephew and three great-nieces, all of Jackson, Miss. She is also survived by Ray's children and their spouses, Suzanne S. Davenport and Brad, Christie M. Peace and Jim and Jonathan W. Shepherd and Nan Leake; and Ray's grandchildren, Chris Minton and Missy, Marianne M. Hartquist and Cory, Kate, John, Stephen, Sarah and Maria Davenport; and three great-grandchildren, all of Richmond. She graduated from Central High School and Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss. She had been an elementary school teacher and a real estate associate. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter Y, Nautigals Auxiliary of the Richmond Sail and Power Squadron, Commonwealth Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Tuckahoe Woman's Club. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Forest Avenue on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. Inurnment will be at Lakewood Cemetery in Jackson, Miss.
