Nancy Lou Vass Shoemaker

SHOEMAKER, Nancy Lou "Vass," 85, died December 26, 2013 at the Sunrise Assisted Living of Richmond. She was born in Richmond, Va. on February 11, 1928. She graduated from John Marshall High School and retired from the Henrico County Schools Nutrition Services. She was the widow of Harold L. Shoemaker (1927 to 1994). Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents, Ernest F. and Bessie "Fox" Vass; and her two brothers, J. Wilson Vass and James R. Vass; and two sisters, Margaret Thomas and Marion Hicks; and their spouses, her son-in-law and her Shoemaker sister-in-law. Nancy is survived by her daughter and two sons, Linda Maxwell of Staunton, Va., Steve and Cathy Shoemaker of Beaumont, Texas, and Kurt and Dana Shoemaker of Glen Allen, Va.; and her brother-in-law, Ralph B. Shoemaker of Henrico, Va. She has five grandchildren, Stephanie, David and Michael Shoemaker of Texas, Matthew Shoemaker of Massachusetts and Aaron Shoemaker of Virginia; and six great-grandchildren who survive her, as well as several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on December 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home. On December 30, 2013 at 11 a.m., the funeral service by Pastor Robert Litterst will be held at the Parham Chapel.
