CHILDRESS, Mildred Dyer, 92, of Richmond, widow of Stuart P. Childress Sr., died January 22, 2015. Survivors include two sons, Preston Childress, M.D. (Sarah) and Bruce Childress; one sister, Maxine Childress; seven grandchildren, Melanie Withers, Diana Vares (Erik), Katie Childress, Stuart Childress III, Josh Childress, Ciera Childress and Haley Childress; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Childress was a member of First Baptist Church and worked as a switchboard operator prior to her marriage.
Her remains rest at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, and where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
