ADKINS, Marie Stewart, age 86, of Providence Forge, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Chief Arthur Leonard "Lone Wolf" Adkins (Chickahominy); parents, Oliver A. Stewart and Mozella O. Stewart; sister, Florine Adkins; and brothers, James "Buddy," Claude, Tecumseh "Tee," Wenoka "Jack" and Anthony "Sam" Stewart. She is survived by sons, Wayne B. and his wife, Sandra W. Adkins, Monte L. and his wife, Melissa Adkins; one daughter, Carmen Lenora Adkins; one granddaughter, Hope M. Adkins; siblings, Nellie Holmes, Melvin (Pearl) Stewart, Ronald (Jean) Stewart, Sydelle Stewart, Juanita Canaday (Leslie), Carol Jefferson (John), Kevin Stewart, Clinton Stewart (Rosemary) and Rosalyn Stewart; sisters-in-law, Helene Stewart, Pauline Stewart and Joyce Stewart; brother-in-law, Curtis Wynn; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Marie was a retired Charles City County School librarian. She was a member of Samaria Baptist Church, where she served as a Teacher, WMU/WOM director, and deacon. She also served as a board member and volunteer at Heritage Library. Marie was a fraternal member of the Woodmen of the World. Remains rest at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 South Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va., where family will receive friends Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Samaria Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery.
