Melvin graduated from J. T. Barber High School and later in life moved to the Richmond area with the mother of his children, Brenda Boone. He went on to work for the Department of Agriculture as an Inspector, where he later retired after 21 years.
Melvin enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. His perfect day would be listening to Jazz music while cooking steaks or BBQ. He was a laid back man and will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit and warm loving nature.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory of his daughter, Jessica DePaul (Adam); son, Christopher Boone (Rachel); grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, siblings and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by (his sister, Sylvia).
