Melissa Anne Haislip
October 4, 1990 – June 18, 2014

Melissa Anne Haislip, 23, departed from us, suddenly, on June 18, 2014. She is preceeded in death by her grandparents, George and Helen Haislip; and her two cousins, Matthew and Andrew Haislip. Melissa was a good hearted, young woman who loved to spend time with her family, going to the beach, and tubing. She was particularly proud of her academic achievements. Melissa graduated from Longwood University with her BSN in nursing and began her career at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and attended Antioch Baptist Church, early in life, and later, New Bridge Baptist Church. Melissa leaves to cherish her wonderful memory her parents, Michael and Vanessa Haislip; brother and best friend, Jason Haislip and his fiancé, Traci Freeman; the love of her life, Pixie; grandparents, Raymond and Barbara Moore; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts. Visitation will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., with funeral services on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA, 23231. Please make a memorial contribution in the name of Melissa, to the Lost Sons and Daughters Memorial Foundation through the Henrico Police Department and the Longwood University Nursing Scholarship. Melissa Anne Haislip Memorial Scholarship
In memory of Melissa Anne Haislip, for her dedication and love to the profession of nursing, this scholarship is to provide assistance to a current nursing student at Longwood University. May Melissa's legacy be carried on each day as the recipient grows to become a professional nurse and serve those in need of health care.
