Mary Estes Irby

IRBY, Mary Estes, 93, died September 26, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Munroe Irby Jr. She is survived by her son, Richard M. Irby III of Alexandria, Va., his wife, Machele, and two children, Kathryn and Richard IV; also by her daughter, Mary Ellen Walton, of Richmond, her husband, Terry and son, Evan. Mrs. Irby was born in Roanoke, Va., received her B.S. degree from Mary Washington College. She was involved in multiple community and civic activities especially as Adult Activity Programs Director at the Central YWCA, where she received the Community Volunteer Service Award. In 1978, she was chosen Henrico Christmas Mother and later served 10 years as coordinator of their Christmas Adoption Program. Mrs. Irby was a longtime, devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she held many offices and was awarded a life membership in the U.M.W.
