Marvin Leon Oliver

OLIVER, Marvin Leon, 69 of Varina, went home to be with the Lord on April 16, 2015. He was born in Richmond on May 16, 1945. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Leon Oliver and Juanita Helen Barton; and his brother, Robert Lee Link. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carla Sue Oliver, his sister, Sheryl Lynne Miller (Dennis), brother, Kenneth Wayne Oliver (Florence); sister in law, Gloria Jean Link; a niece and several nephews; and Brook Lee Oliver and David Lou Oliver, adopted in love. Marvin was a millwright at Dupont and retired after 38 years. He was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Sandston, VA. Marvin was the current master of Varina Masonic Lodge 272 and a member for many years. He was a member of Gideon’s International and enjoyed speaking at the churches. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 19 from 2:00 – 5:00pm. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, April 20, at 2:00pm with a Masonic Service immediately following. All services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond. Burial will take place at Antioch Baptist Church.
