Martha Parsley Rice

Martha Parsley Rice, age 92, of Richmond, Virginia passed away on Friday November 16, 2018. Martha was born August 30, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Casey Stevenson and Katherine Stevenson Penney; brother, Robert Dukes Stevenson; husbands, Julian W. Parsley and Rufus Martin Rice; and grandson, J.P. Parsley. She is survived by her children, Ellen Parsley Smith (Mike), Wade Stevenson Parsley (Beverly), Kenneth Wayne Rice (Sharon),and Carol Rice Kratzke (Don); grandchildren, Whitney Smith Hughes (Allen), and Ian Matthew Kratzke; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Skyy Hughes and Michael Blake Hughes; sisters, Esther Stevenson Vaughan and Sue Stevenson Pruitt; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and loved her church family.

The family would like to thank the staff from Lakewood and Medi Home Hospice for the excellent care that Martha received while in their care.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Trinity United Methodist Church , 903 Forest Avenue Richmond, Virginia 23229. Memorial contributions may be made to the J.P. Parsley Memorial Scholarship at Godwin High School, 2101 Pump Road Richmond, Virginia 23238, or to Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23229
