I sure was sad to hear about Luther.  My wife and I have enjoyed the wonderful pool he built us and I will miss our conversations.

Lisa, Bill and I are so sad to hear of Luther's passing. He installed our pool about 27 years ago and was such a nice person and provided wonderful service.  We will miss him, but we know he's not suffering and is united with all his family and friends.

I was heartbroken to read of Luke passing in the Furman alumni magazine. I was a TKE little sister and knew him and his brother John. They were both great people. I hadn't spoken with Luke in many years but so happy to hear he had the love of a wonderful family. So sad for you loss of such a great man in your lives. Wishing you comfort and strength.

Lisa,  After our conversation today I had tears running down my face. I am so sorry to hear that Luther passed. I am happy that Luther and I had those phone calls when he was in the hospital. Luther was always there for me no matter how many times I messed up my pool. Many times I came home and he was working in my yard on the pool. Luther you sure will be missed my friend. You now have a new body, no more pain. One day we will meet again. God bless.

I am very sorry to hear of Luther's passing.  I met Luther in '02 when I was interviewing pool companies for my project.  When I called him a year later he remembered me and my idea and was excited to proceed even though he had just started his first battle with Cancer. I told him I wanted to win the Foxx pool contest and sure enough when the next years catalog came out we had.  In all the years I knew him, he was always upbeat no mater what was going on with his health.  I have always been amazed how I could call him up years later with a technical question and he would have the answer instantly even though he probably had built 100 pools since mine.  My condolences to the White Family. He will be missed.

I was so saddened to learn the news about your husband today. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My husband was a patient at MCV and met Luther on CCH2. Unfortunately, he also lost the battle too. We truly had two strong warriors! If you ever need someone to talk to, please call me.

Lisa, I went to Furman University with Luke (as he was known to us!) and have just heard of his passing. I remember him as being one of the nicest men I have ever met.  On reading his obituary, I can see that he remained a fun loving husband, father and friend to the end.  I am so sorry for your loss but know that God has a great plan and that Luke is at His side.

I wish I could be of comfort to you as you were to me when my husband was ill and dying.  A teacher of my daughter offered me this, she had also lost her husbnd.  "You will know you have come through the greiving process
when you hear a song or something triggers a memory and instead of feeling sad or tearing up you smile."  She was so right but it does take some time. Dr. White I don't know your family but I think this is what your dear brother would hope for all.

I started out in the pool  business with solar plus in the early days with luther .Any one knows starting a business there will b rough times and good times he always kept going no matter how rough times were he never gave up . I went out on my own and like him i had rough times in my business and i have called on him many times he was willing to help anyway he could and i will miss having him to turn to .with love and respect i leave these words. Exodus 33:14 The lord replied My presence will go with you and i will give you rest . John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this : to lay down ones life for ones friends .  1 peter 4:19 so then , those who suffer according to gods will should commit themselves to their faithful creator and continue to do good .To all his friends and family i am sorry for your loss not having him here is a loss to all he touched.

To Luther's family - I went to Patrick Henry High School with Luther and graduated with him. It was an honor to have him as our class President. I am so sorry to hear of his passing and saddened by his loss. He was one of my favorite people I grew up with during that time. I know he will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him. My wife first met Luther back in the mid-eighties.  He flagged her down in the parking lot of Ashland Ford.  She was the "Valpak Lady" and he had a new business, Richmond Poolworks, which needed some advertising.  That chance meeting started a friendship that lasted over 25 years.  We watched him grow his business into one of the top Fox Pool dealerships in the U.S., and also had the pleasure of playing on numerous tennis teams with him at Raintree Swim and Racquet Club.  I think he can best be described as a tough competitor...with a big heart. It was these two qualities that I am sure endeared him to his customers and employees, as well as his opponents on the basketball and tennis courts.  He was determined to win...in business, in tennis and in life, but winning was far from being the most important thing.  Luther was his own man and very comfortable with whom he was.  He had the courage to be himself.  And that person was, quite frankly, someone we should all aspire to be – honest, fair, principled, caring, fun loving and giving.  He loved life, sports, competition, his work, customers, employees, friends and family; but more than anything he loved Lisa.
My wife and I were fortunate enough to call him a friend for many years.  We knew him both pre and post Lisa.  We were always trying to “fix him up” with someone.  He was very particular.  He knew what he wanted and was willing to be patient.  It just didn't make sense to him to settle for anything less, anything other than…Lisa.  Never was he happier than during his years with Lisa, Henley and Logan.  
Luther, while you are gone, you will never be forgotten.  Your enduring smile will always be a reminder of the good things in life…the things you showed us every day.  Truly we are better people because we had the good fortune of you in our lives. Most importantly, you taught us that we can get everything we want out of all life – all which is really important – if we simply live each day helping others get what they want.  It's what you did…with not an inkling of regret.  Now I understand why you were always smiling.  Thank so much.

Lisa, Logan, and Henley, we are so sorry for your loss. Luther was a very special person. His memory will go on in the hearts of all those his life touched.

Luther and I were childhood friends – best friends at four year olds. We learned to ride bikes, make tree forts, got ice cream at night, took swimming lessons together. Once we drank so much grape juice before going out to spin on swings that we threw up.  When you're a child, your friendships are pure. Not based on what you do, or by obligation, but because you have fun together, and don't even know why, but you connect.  Even after a fight, you're buddies, without caring who was right or wrong.  
We moved from our street when I was ten. It was only four blocks away, but it might as well have been four miles.  We couldn't run over to each other's house anymore without parental supervision. But our bond was forged, and even though we rarely saw each other as adults, a spirit of connectedness has always existed.  I will miss Luther.  He was good, and kind, and a brother in Christ.  And I know I will see him again.  For his family he leaves behind, I know his absence will leave a void that can never be replaced.  I share a small part of what must be overwhelming grief at this time.  But it is the thought of Luther and of his valiant fight, and own courage, that will give all his family and friends the ability to face the loss and celebrate his life and joy of living. He was a great person to have known on this earth.  We have made a donation to Music That's Mine to honor him.

I played tennis with Luther for many years and he was always a class act and a genuinely good guy. His spirit will be missed!

Henley, Lisa, and Logan...  I am very sorry for the loss of your step-father/husband. I will always be there for you all and you know where and how to reach me.

When I moved to Ashland in 1987, I met Luther through a friend and played on a basketball team that he sponsored. Luther will always hold a special place in my heart because of his warm demeanor, good humor, even temperament and his three point shots which always gave us a chance to win. Luther always wanted to win, but more importantly he wanted everyone to get along and have fun. He will be greatly missed as a friend.

God Bless Luther! I enjoyed have Luther as my tennis doubles partner. He was a good athlete and great competitor. Luther was a wonderful man. A gentle soul and a real credit to the human race. I am deeply saddened by his untimely passing.

So sorry to hear about Luther. Coming home from work I would sometimes see him and we would chat about our companies, the economy, our kids, whatever. I'm going to miss those little chats- such a nice guy!

I was several years behind Luther but took notice of him while he was playing varsity basketball at PH. He was an outstanding athlete and an excellent shooter. He invited me play in the Hanover “30 and older” league. During those years I had a chance to know him even better. I will always respect him because he did, when he didn't have to. One could see the Lord in him by the way he treated everybody regardless of background.  He touched so many lives. Don't dwell on what we have lost but be thankful that we all were blessed to have him in our lives.

So sorry for your loss Lisa. We were so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time with your beautiful family recently.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss.  The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.

To the family of Luther...ONE OF THE BEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD...Man of his word, fair, went out of his way to make sure everything was right.  We met Luther in 2004.  My husband Mike called him from the telephone book about a pool and there has not been anything since that time we met that he could not do for us.  He put up our fence not once but twice.  Worked our pool him and his guys and he would come to our home everyday until it was straight and if it wasn't would let us use spare motor and all until it got right.  We loved him like a brother and we felt like we knew Lisa and the kids and brother although we never met.  He is truly going to be missed.  He gave Lukemia a fight till the end!!  We pray that GOD wraps his arms around you and give the family strength because we are having a hard time with this one:(  Until we meet. We will make a donation to Musicthatsmine also.

WE KNEW THE WHITES WHEN LUTHER,S FATHER WAS PRESIDENT OF RMC.LUTHER WAS A SSPECIAL SORT OF MAN THAT HELPED SO MANY.
HE PUT 2 POOLS IN FOR US AND DELIVERED THE SUPPLIES. BY THE TIME WE COULD NOT DO EVERYTHING A POOL REQUIRED. HE HAD HIS MEN AND HIMSELF AS LONG AS HE WAS ABLE. WE COULD NOT HAVE HAD THAT POOL FOR OIR GRANDCHILDREN SWIMMIUNG IF IT HADN,T BEEN FOR LUTHER. I TALKED WITH HIM IN THE HOSPITAL THIS PAST SUMMER AND HE WAS ALWAYS UPBEAT. PRAYERS TO HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN, HE WILL MISSED BY SO MANY.

Although you and I have not been in touch through the years, I have thought of you often, including  on your birthday this past December.
