Lois Parker Henley, died May 22, 2011. She was preceded by her husband of 61 years, Earl H. Henley, and her parents, Annie and Kennie Parker. She is survived by a sister, Norma P. Warriner and husband, George, of Bon Air, brother, Kenneth Clayton Parker and wife Jeanette, of Deland, Florida, a niece, Rita Smith, and nephews, Steve and John Warriner, Dale, Lowery, Jeffrey, Parker and Carol Henley.
Lois graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of nursing, class of 1947. She became a Registered Nurse and worked for the I.V.N.A. in Richmond for 2 years. In 1950 she became the Public Health Nurse in Goochland County and worked until she retired with 34 years of service with the State Health Dept.
During her yrs. of service she was involved in many civic organizations; a member of the American Cancer Society board for 47 yrs, Goochland Family Services American Red Cross, Fire and Rescue, charter member of Goochland Woman's club and others. She was a member of Dover Baptist Church and Director of Womens Missionary Society for 22 years. Visitation from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm, on Tuesday, May 24, at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. Funeral service will be at 11am, on Wednesday, May 25, at Dover Baptist Church, 635 Manakin Rd., Manakin Sabot, Va.
Interment to follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Lois P. Henley, Nursing Scholarship Fund at Goochland High School, 3250 River Road West.
