Judy was born in Newport News VA on August 17, 1941, to Peter and Lucy White. She graduated from Chowan College with an Associate of Arts Degree in 1961 and Riverside Hospital School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 1965. She then joined the United States Navy as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Nurses Corp., serving internationally in Taipei, Taiwan. After her release from the military, she worked at VA hospitals in Great Lakes, IL and Manchester, NH; then settling at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond VA, where she cared for veterans for 30 years until her retirement in 1997.
Judy loved to travel and had a passion for animals; loving every stray cat God sent her way. Overseas she toured sites in England, Germany, Israel, Italy and Luxembourg. Within the U.S., she visited states from New Hampshire - Florida; Virginia - California; Michigan - Texas. Sites included Branson, Cape Cod, Disneyland, Disney World, Hilton Head, Grand Canyon, Lake Placid, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Nags Head, and Mount Rushmore to name a few.
Judy is survived by her sister, Page White Gardner (Donald), late brother Donald Thomas White (Bettie); nephews Kyle White (Megan), Glyn Gardner (Erin) and Bryan White; nieces Katherine White Watkins (Jase) and Betsy Gardner Menefee; many great nephews, great nieces and long-time friend, Gail Laub. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Minitree White, and mother, Lucy Catlett White Robins.
A graveside memorial will be held August 27, 2021, at 1:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Richmond SPCA or a favorite charity in memory of Judith White.
