Kirby, Judith Maybelle Carpenter, 86, daughter of Richard and Constance Carpenter, met her Lord Jesus on August 27, 2014. She was born in Hot Springs, Va. on April 18, 1928. Judy married William Henry Kirby on June 23, 1944 and moved to Richmond (Montrose Heights), Va. in 1948, where they lived life-long. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Buck” Kirby; son, James “Dootsie” Kirby; brother, Wilbur Carpenter; and sister, Ellen Liptrap. Mrs. Kirby is survived by her son, William “Junie” Kirby Jr. (Willeen); daughter-in-law, Janie Kirby; sister, Jerry Hostetter; five grandchildren, Teresa Craft (Joe), Dianna McManamy (Randy), William “Trey” Kirby III (Kim), Jimmie Kirby (Annaell), Jennifer Kirby; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Craft, Ashley Craft, Wayne Owens (Heather), Summer Kirby, Garrett Kirby, Avery Grace Kirby, Donovan Pierce; one great-great-granddaughter, Hailey Owens; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Judy loved her home and many creative hobbies, canning, crocheting, quilting, Christmas ornaments, by which she graced the homes of loving nieces, nephews, friends, and family. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends Friday, August 29 from 6-8pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 30 at 2pm. Entombment will take place Tuesday, September 2 at 3pm in Washington Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials to your favorite charities are desired.
