Joyce Poore Smith

SMITH, Joyce Poore, of Goochland, VA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark and sister, Doris Parrish. She is survived by Edgar, her husband of 64 years and her children Beth Valentine (Steve), Sara Rowe (Keith Catlett), Matthew Smith (Mandy); grandchildren, Christian Evans (Ryan), Megan Howard (Lee), Kelsey Valentine, Trenton and Cierra Smith; great grandchildren, Naomi and Porter Evans; brothers, Kenneth Poore (Anne) and Millard Poore (Carolyn); a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Joyce is remembered for her strong faith and service to her church and community, serving on the Goochland School Board for twelve years.

Family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Dover Baptist Church, 635 Manakin Rd. Manakin-Sabot, VA Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dover Baptist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
