BRADLEY, Jane Louise Kline, died March 11, 2013. She was born October 17, 1920 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, the seventh child of Hattie and Orion Kline of Gladwyn, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harold R. Bradley, Sr., and her son, James H. Bradley. She is survived by nine of her ten children: Barbara B. Brandon and her husband, Herb, of Richmond; H. Robert Bradley, Jr. of Madison, Georgia; Susan B. Farrell and her husband, Joe; Richard J. Bradley and his wife, Pam; John S. Bradley and his wife, Janice; Virginia L. Bradley; David L. Bradley and his wife, Jan; Robin B. Doherty and her husband, Dean; and Michael R. Bradley, all of the Richmond area. Her brother, Richard S. Kline and his wife, Marian, of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, survive her as do her 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Jane graduated from Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, and was designated “The Pride of Gladwyn.” She later married her high school sweetheart on October 17, 1940. After moving from Pennsylvania to Richmond in 1954, they were instrumental in the founding of Tuckahoe Little League and in their honor an area of one of the fields was dedicated as The Bradley Pavilion. In her youth she was an avid tennis player and maintained an interest in the sport until her death. Her love of sports was the stuff of legends. Being a great fan of golf, she was a charter member of “Arnie’s Army” and attended all but a few University of Richmond home baseball games for over 35 years, sitting in her lawn chair on the hill in right field. She also was a regular attendee at her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and greatly enjoyed trading sports stories with her friends and family. As her life with us drew to a close, she was thankful for the caregivers: Louise, Barbara, Letha and Lillie, who treated her with tenderness and compassion. She grew to love all of them.
The family will welcome friends on Friday, March 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road, Henrico, where services will be conducted on Saturday, March 16, at 2:00 P.M.
