James Howard Salmon was born March 16, 1946 in Farmville, VA to Jack and Dolly (Dalton) Salmon. He was the middle brother between Jack and Jerry. He was called Jimmy by the family until he was grown and made it known he wanted to be called James. Jimmy was fascinated by cars and trucks and as a young man held many short-lived jobs until he took a much-loved job driving a tractor/trailer for Frito Lay. He enjoyed collecting musical instruments and liked strumming on an old guitar.
James loved God and wanted to serve Him to the best of his ability. He attended church services regularly as long as he was able. In April 2019, James entered Elizabeth Adam Crump Nursing Home where he died May 8, 2020 of complications from Lewy Body Dementia.
James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry; and son, Marshall who died in 2003. He is survived by his children, Laura Glantz, Andrew Salmon, Karin Salmon; and their mother, Susan; as well as a brother, Jack; and sister in law, Mary.
Private services will be held at the Salmon family cemetery near Goochland, VA.
