MINOR, Mr. James M. Jr., of Henrico, Va., passed away peacefully in his home Friday, November 13, 2015. Mr. Minor was a Richmond native, the son of the late James M. Minor Sr. and Mrs. Florence Edwards Minor. Mr. Minor was a graduate of the Richmond public schools, Richmond College at the University of Richmond and received his J.D. from the University of Richmond's T.C. Williams School of Law. Mr. Minor served his country in the Navy. Mr. Minor was for many years a member and Sunday school teacher of Northminster Baptist Church and later a member of Second Baptist Church. Mr. Minor was a long-time supporter of the Salvation Army and was an early board member when its members sat down and broke bread with men who were living and working at the Army-run facilities. These meals were cooked by the men living there and shared with the board members. This was "hands-on" time for Mr. Minor and very memorable for him. Mr. Minor over and over manned the kettles and rung the bells during the holidays. Mr. Minor gave generously throughout his life to the church, the Salvation Army and other charitable organizations. Mr. Minor was a member and leader in many organizations, among them were the following, Legal Economics Committee and Public Relations Committee, Virginia State Bar, Richmond Bar Association, Virginia Bar Association, American Bar Association, Economics and Torts and Insurance Sections, Richmond Trial Lawyers Association, Member and Chairman, Committee on Fee Schedules, Richmond Bar Association, Committeeman and Governor, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Governor and Member of Medical Malpractice, Legislative, and Medical Institute Committees, Former Governor and Treasurer, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Member, Virginia State Bar Council; Member, American Board of Trial Advocates Mr. Minor was certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and rated AV-Preeminent (highest classification) Mr. Minor lectured at meetings of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Professional Education Seminars and the Virginia State Bar and at the T.C. Williams School of Law. Mr. Minor was a Founder of the Second National Bank of Richmond and served on its board as a Director and Counsel. Mr. Minor's family is extremely grateful for the superb care provided to him by his devoted caregivers. They treated him like their own family. Mr. Minor was married for six decades to his beloved wife, Frances B. Minor. He is survived by his two sons, James Watson Minor of Winchester, Va, and Thomas Bennett Minor of Henrico, Va.; and sister, Marian Thomas Minor of Richmond, Va. A memorial service for Mr. Minor will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015, at Second Baptist Church, 9614 River Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229, with interment immediately following in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
