James Edgar Johnson Sr.

James "Jim" E. Johnson, of Highland Springs, entered into eternal rest on July 25, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Pearl Johnson; sisters, Helen Ackerman and Billie Lilly; and brothers, John and Clymoth Johnson. James is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years, Emma Johnson; daughters Nancy Watts and Debra Cooper (Ed); sons, James Johnson, Jr., and Donald Johnson (Geneva), as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Much love, gratitude and acknowledgement is given to the following individuals, who over the years became an important part of his family: Donnie Journey (Judy), Terry McGann (Bev) and caregiver Cathy Wickline. James retired from Bethlehem Steel Company after 30 years of service. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond VA 23231, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Services will be held in the Nelsen Chapel on Tuesday, July 28 at 2pm. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
