James "Jim" R. Foote

FOOTE, James “Jim” R., 85, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 5, 2018. Jim is survived by his children, Andy Foote (Kathleen), Donna Lane (Gary), Betty Davis (Ray), Carolyn Wakefield (Steve), Diana Dunn and Mary Virginia Work. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Foote, his mother, Charlotte Dalquest, his father, Robert “Bob” Foote and his brother, Richard “Chick” Foote. Jim served eight years in the US Navy, he retired from American Tobacco Company where he worked as a machinist for 34 years, he was active with the Sandston Jaycees, the Sandston Moose Lodge, the American Legion Post 242 where he served as one year each as commander and chaplain and he was a member of the Dover Association and Antioch Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. Jim loved to go hunting and fishing, he enjoyed gun collecting and playing his mandolin and harmonica. His garage was treasure trove and he surely had fun sharing those treasures with his family and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, casual attire welcome. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, at 11 a.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, Laburnum. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church.
