He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Collins Frazier; a sister, Liz; his brothers, Paul, Richard, Franklin and Cotton. He is survived by his son, Alan Frazier (Pam); daughter, Sandy Tyler (Dwayne); sisters, Linda, Becky and Gail.
Jay is retired from the U.S. Air Force, where his title was MSGT and he served as an airplane mechanic during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He is also retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked at the main office in Richmond as a mail handler. Jay was a longtime member of Fort Lee Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and all around handyman.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
