Helen Farkas Grubbs

Helen Farkas Grubbs, 92, of Varina, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Earnest Linwood Grubbs; parents, six brothers and one sister. Helen worked for Millhiser Bag Co. for over 30 years and was a longtime member of Hardy Central Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener, loved nature and her pets. Helen loved cooking for her family and spending time with them. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda G. Acors (Earl) and Rebecca G. Smith (Tommy); grandchildren, Tiffany A. Miller (Mark), Paul G. Acors (Maria Jose) and Thomas H. Smith III (Cicek); and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Madeline, Ethan and Sofia. The family would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers, Anna Pitt, Cathy Throckmorton and Karen Hopkins, for their loving care over the years. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231, where a funeral will take place at 12 noon on Monday. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
