Helen Gould Akers Burke

Helen Gould Akers Burke, 99, of Richmond, VA. passed away peacefully on January 27, 2014. She spent the last two years under the good care of the staff of Our Lady of Hope Health Center. Prior to that her good friend and neighbor, Mrs. Jean Claude provided loving care that allowed her to stay in her home. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings and her beloved husband of 48 years Andrew Cromwell Burke. She is survived by her great niece Sue Atkins and her partner Debby Getty of Louisa, Va. her great niece Debbie Keever and husband David and their daughter Emma of Vienna, Va. her great niece Sandy Atkins and her children Alison and Martin of Tampa Fl., and her great nephew Cliff Atkins and husband John Weltman and sons Zachary and Kyle of Milton, Mass. Mrs. Burke was retired after many years of service at the State Corporation Commission. She was active in her church, Chamberlayne Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00am at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond with the funeral service starting at 11:00am. Interment will be private. The family requests a donation to Feed More in lieu of flowers.
