Black, Helen Elizabeth Orange, 91, of Mechanicsville, passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2014. Helen was the daughter of the late Anne Elizabeth (Graves) and Percy Jeter Orange, of Holdcroft, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, William Randolph Black. Her cherished memory as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother will live on in the hearts of her family; daughter, Joanne B. Sanders (Richard Robinson); son, Randy Black (Barbara); grandson, Jeffrey Sanders; granddaughter, Lauren M. Cochran (Mike); great grandchildren, Owen Michael Carpenter and Ryleigh Elise Cochran; and her dearly loved sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family gives special thanks to the extraordinary caregivers for their loving devotion to “Miss Helen” during her time of illness. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14 at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
