He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Violet Carper Morris; and sister, Kathleen Loya. He is survived by his wife, Frances R. Morris; son, Matthew B. Morris (Monica); grandchildren, Mason and Makenzie; and sister, Kyle Kelsheimer of Rocky Mt., Va.
After graduating from ODU in 1964 with an Associates in Applied Sciences, Herk worked for a number of years with Robertshaw Controls Company and retired from Dominion Energy Management. He was an active member of Kentwood Heights Baptist Church for over 20 years, serving as the audio and sound coordinator and participating in many missionary trips. Herk was a member of the Highland Springs/Sandston Jacyees and ASHRAE. He enjoyed the outdoors, both hunting and fishing, and always building and fixing things. He enjoyed spending time with his family and serving the Lord. Whenever anyone needed help, he was always the first to lend a hand and will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 25, from 11-2pm at Nelsen Funeral Home – Laburnum Chapel, with a graveside service to follow at 3pm at Washington Memorial Park. The service will be livestreamed, available at reellyfeproductions.com.
