George Vincent Tate, Sr., 83, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. He served in the Korean War and retired as a CW3 with the Army National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne P. Tate; children, George V. Tate, Jr., Barry D. Tate, Robert E Short, Jr. and Temple S. Womack; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, William C. Parkinson, Jr. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, VA 23231. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 7, at 11 a.m. at Mechanicsville Christian Center. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mechanicsville Christian Center, where he was an active member, at 8061 Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
